Hello everyone!

We wanted to post an update on a rescue that occured today, that has truly warmed our hearts looking at the support and responses.

On a daily basis, our small rescue team here at Wallington Animal Rescue never quite know what to expect or what we're going to get called out to. Today was a prime example of this, and presented a huge challenge for the team though.

Meanwhile, back on social media, a local resident of Wallington created a post, sharing photos of her beautiful but missing cat called 'Big Love'. Hundreds of Facebook users had shared their post, commenting advice and letting them know they're keeping an eye out for their beautiful, fluffy Norwegian Forest Cat.

Finally, this evening; after a trip to the vet to check for a chip, we are extremely happy to say that the cat was chipped, and was indeed the fluffy adventourer himself; Big Love. (great name, by the way!)

He had been missing since the 16th November. This is why we encourage having your pets chipped so much, it could save them from trouble some day!

Big Love's owners were quickly notified and within an hour, and he was returned to his warm home with a greatful and emotional owner. Big Love was safe, with plenty of food and comfort once again.

All round a tough day for all the team, we're not out of the woods yet either.

WOW! What a weekend that was!

Sorry about the delay in posting, the team are still recovering! A bit of a long post but stick with it at the good bits are at the end.

The team never envisioned when we started planning this years festival in March, after 18 rotten-months, how good or successful it could or would be. We all still have smiles on our faces after what was a phenomenal two days.

We couldn’t possibly name everybody personally who contributed so so much, apologies if we miss anybody.

• Thank you to our incredible sponsors Direct Line Communication for your generosity and support.
• Thank you to the management and all the staff at the Charles Cryer Theatre for your tireless efforts over the weekend. Cryer Arts allowed us to use the venue free of charge and also  have kindly donated 100% of ticket sales to the rescues incidentally.
• Thank you to the amazing team of volunteers, fosterers and rescuers for giving up your time to help plan, stage and execute the event.
• Thank you to all the artists, entertainers, performers and dancers who again performed for free, you all rocked!
• Thank you to all the stall holders for an amazing range of arts, crafts and cakes.
  
• We did say we couldn’t single one individuals out but we’re going to make a small exception; the mini WARriors Eddie, Luke and Lily  who are the children of our fosterers. You young ones were an absolute diamonds! From helping us pack away, to making sure everybody had a wristband on the door and to sharing your chips with us, sell merch and running the tombola  you are all legends.
  

Finally, thank you to everybody who attended, supported us, donated or bought raffle tickets.

One of our abiding memories of the weekend will always be seeing so many of you laughing, drinking, dancing and having just so much fun. Safe to say we all needed it!

Since it's the last day of the year, we wanted to share some 2020 stats about our rescue.
It goes without saying, this year has been a shock for us all.

We're definitely not the only charity out there that has struggled this year and from the bottom of our hearts, we can't thank you all enough for the support we've received in these difficult times.

All adoptions, adoption applications and home checks are closed.

This is due to:

1. ​Closing in time for Christmas (we always close just before Christmas for adoptions). Animal rescue and assistance is still as normal where we can.
2. Due to the new Tier 4 London restrictions in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to meet up with or be in contact with anyone outside of our household.

We rehomed a whole bunch of cats this month to wonderful, loving homes and we're very happy with the results.

Please do check back in the new year where we will update you with animals in and if/when we are open again for applications.
