Applications are open for animals on our website and our Facebook page. We also welcome 'flexible' applications.
Please read the information carefully on each cat before applying to ensure they are suited to your home.

Taking on an animal requires long term commitment.
To own an animal is a privilege, not a right and you should be 100% sure that you can:

Afford care
for them

Ensure all needs are met; provide good food, warmth and shelter, as well as vet care incl. annual vaccinations and regular worming and flea treatments.

Care & love them unconditionally

You must love them as part of your family, for your pets entire lifetime. Remember, cats can live over 18 years and dogs can live over 15 years!

Protect them
from harm

Make it your duty to protect the animal against cruelty and neglect by making sure it has a safe, loving environment which they can thrive in.

What areas do we cover?

As much as we'd like to be able to allow everyone a chance, for applications which are not local to our rescue it is not possible to guarantee a safe, easy handover of the animal's new life with a family. That's why we generally prioritise rehomings to the following local areas:

Home checks

Please note all adoptions will be agreed after a home check has been carried out.

During the home check, we can discuss the pet(s) needs and it gives you a chance to ask us questions to ensure the pet is suitable for you and your circumstances.

We also request that once an adoption has been agreed, the pet(s) is homed within 48 hours of the date the animals have been deemed ready to go by WAR so we can make the space free for another animal needing rescuing.

We request an adoption fee for an animal/s which will be discussed at the home check stage - please note the donation is payable before or on day of collection of the animal.

Please note all animals are vet checked and any emergency treatment is carried out before rehoming. The cats will also be vaccinated and, depending on age, neutered and chipped before they are released.

All money raised goes straight back into the rescue.

Outdoor vs indoor

With dogs, it is fairly easy to determine and assume that they need controlled and observed outside space.
Taking dogs for daily walks, having a garden for them to have as their own little territory and, ideally, an open household is all a dog needs to be happy... perhaps a nice adventure in the woods or a giant field every now and then too!

Cats are a different story though. It is often assumed that you can keep cats indoors and they'll just sleep all day.
This is not true. In general, we believe that every cat has the right to an outdoor life.

Cats are adventurous animals and natural wanderers
Although they like to have a safe zone to call their home, it is not common for cats to want to stay indoors for too long. Cats will wander in gardens, roads, forests, fields... wherever they want to go!

This is why it is extremely important to get your cat neutered and micro-chipped.
The last thing anyone wants is their beloved cat to wander a little too far out and get lost, with no way to trace it's way home.
Neutering and spaying also helps to 'calm' cats down slightly, so they do not wander for territory or a mate as much.

In terms of our adoptions though, if a cat has only ever lived indoors when it comes to us, or it needs to be indoors for medical/ health reasons, then we may consider it appropriate for them to remain indoor cats and we will rehome them as such. These cats may be suitable for people who live in flats and are unable to provide outdoor space.
