Unfortunately, not all of our rescue animals are able to be adopted...

Here at Wallington Animal Rescue, we sometimes come across animals in such a bad way or suffering from long-term serious health conditions that they are unsuitable to be rehomed. As a result of this, they stay either at the rescue with our team, or are fostered under a long term care plan with one of our approved, loving fosterers.

These animals are now safe and cared for and are receiving all the medical treatment they need to help them enjoy a happy life.

Hello, my name is Star. I'm an 8 year old female tabby and unfortunately, my owner passed away. I was one of 4 cats; a family member is taking one cat, two are going to Redhill Cat Protection and I have been taken in by WAR.

I was a little sad and unsettled at first... but since moving in with my wonderful foster family, I have shown everyone that I am a loving friendly girl.

In fact, as I am so happy here with my foster family, it has been agreed that my foster home will become my retirement home. I'm now under long-term care, which means my foster family will be keeping me and supplying all the strokes and fuss I need. If and when I need vet care, WAR will take care of that - I am so happy with that!!

I'm very happy right now to be treated like such a princess.

Hey there folks, my name is Tinker!
I'd been living as a stray in the backyard of Brandon Tool Hire in Wallington for some time, where I was found sleeping in the fuel store.

Thanks to a lovely man named Martin, who had been feeding me and knew I needed rescuing, he called Wallington Animal Rescue and they came straight down to collect me. I'm sorry to say they didn't find me looking my best... I was extremely thin, dirty, flea-ridden and very grotty teeth.

I was taken back to the rescue and immediately treated and given some food. I received the full spa treatment and ended up looking like a movie star!

I moved in to a foster home but my fosterer noticed I wasn't eating... so WAR rushed me to the vets. I underwent surgery to remove 4 rotten teeth that were stopping me eating. I then had to go back to the vets as my ears were hurting... it turns out I had polyps, which were irritating me. I was given a steroid jab to make me more comfy.

The polyps couldn't be removed, as there were too many and I would lose a lot of my ear. Despite this, I'm a friendly chap and wanted a nice, safe loving home to call my own. I moved in with my foster mum and she totally fell in love with me, as I am such a lovable guy!

At a vet check, a lump discovered in my liver. I was put into permanent care with my foster mum for long term palliative care and will not be rehomed.

As of 16th March 2020...

We had to say goodbye to Tinks as he passed over the rainbow bridge. His fosterer is of course devastated but had this to say; "We will never forget his character, his little Elvis lip that curled over, or his persistent efforts to snatch food from the plate. He made himself known and quickly chose his territory (Jan’s lap). He brought love and laughter into our home and we will never forget him."

To our foster family Maria, Jan, Chloe and Jack - we are so sorry for your loss, your love and kindness is commendable beyond words. Rest in peace, Tinks.
