Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine! In light of the sudden heat, we wanted to make a quick post sharing a great article that provides information on what to do to ensure your pets are safe in this hot weather. Pant, pant, pant...It is so, so important to keep your pets cool in this heat... as failing to do so can result in life-threatening conditions such as dehydration and heat stroke. We wanted to share this really useful article that has plenty of information about pets in hot weather, we recommend giving it a read: Signs of heatstroke
If ever you feel your pet or come across an animal that is having a heat stroke, take them to a shaded area and call a vet immediately. Do not immerse them into or soak them with cold water or the sudden temperature change could cause further damage and shock. The best way to cool the animal is to temporarily place cool wet towels across their body and if possible, position them next to a cooling fan. Allow the animal small amounts of water to drink and continue to cool them until their breathing starts to settle. Wet towels should not be left on for more than ten to fifteen minutes, otherwise they can start to heat them up rather than cool them down. Take them to the vet immediately for further treatment. * Also, it goes without saying at this point but just in case; remember to NEVER leave a pet in a hot car under any circumstances; this can be fatal for them. So keep yourselves and your pets safe in this heat and have a lovely weekend! - Team WAR * Information sourced from The Healthy Pet Club
