Hello everyone! We wanted to post an update on a rescue that occured today, that has truly warmed our hearts looking at the support and responses. On a daily basis, our small rescue team here at Wallington Animal Rescue never quite know what to expect or what we're going to get called out to. Today was a prime example of this, and presented a huge challenge for the team though. Trespawsser on the tracks On the 20th December 2022 at around 7am, our team was alerted via social media and multiple phonecalls about to a cat hiding in a rescess of the Southbound platform at Wallington Station.
Immediately, our team were concerned for 1) the safety of the curious cat, but 2) due to the fact it's a difficult situation from a safety point of view for our small team; we cannot risk anybody on live tracks and in such a dangerous situation. What followed over the next few hours was incredible and took up all of our resources...

**WARFEST5**WOW! What a weekend that was!
Sorry about the delay in posting, the team are still recovering! A bit of a long post but stick with it at the good bits are at the end. The team never envisioned when we started planning this years festival in March, after 18 rotten-months, how good or successful it could or would be. We all still have smiles on our faces after what was a phenomenal two days. Since it's the last day of the year, we wanted to share some 2020 stats about our rescue.
It goes without saying, this year has been a shock for us all. We're definitely not the only charity out there that has struggled this year and from the bottom of our hearts, we can't thank you all enough for the support we've received in these difficult times. Enjoy this little info sheet with some fun (and not so fun...) facts. If you'd like to give a small donation, link is in the comments! Bring on 2021! - Love from Team WAR x
We'd like to give another wonderful feature to one of our fantastic supporters this year!

Saima has agreed to support our charity this year and we couldn't be more grateful for this help, especially in these very difficult times. So thank you, Saima... you're amazing!
Here's a little statement about Saima: "I'm mother of two young children (boy and a girl) and I'm a pastry chef. I have worked in Raymond Blanc’s restaurant as pastry chef and then opened my own tearoom in house of Fraser Croydon in 2018, which we had to close due to the pandemic. Now I work from home as a baker and also started my personalised gift item business in April; designing digital sketches and personalised products. I was one of the finalists best startup businesses of 2018 in Croydon. I have many pets personalised products from food/water bowls to Christmas Santa sacks and stockings." Thank you Saima; we love your products and your story. It's wonderful to have such ambitious, supportive people like you in the local community!
We wanted to give a shout out to a great supporter we've teamed up with this month in order to raise funds and support our charity.
Dylan’s Doggy Treats
This very friendly custom-pet gift creators have generously decided they will be donating to our rescue. They have some lovely items so please check out their page, give them a like and pamper your pouches / pusscats. They also do bunny treats!
Dylan’s Doggy Treats are ran by Dylan and her partner, Daisie. She has worked in the dog industry for 10 years since she was 14 in a dog groomers, as well as has also worked in daycares and has done dog walking over the years. Over the years, she has learnt so much about dogs and also went to Nescot to take an animal studies course in which he received a diploma. Dylan and Daisie both love all animals and believe every animal big or small deserves to be spoilt and part of the family. (which we at WAR are of course are fully on board with!)
Dylan said "Our chosen charity is Wallington Animal Rescue, in which we will be donating some of our profits to. We would love to get involved in future raffles and money raising events and help this incredible charity raise as much money as possible."
"At Dylan’s Doggy Treats, we made healthy frozen treats throughout the summer providing dogs with a nutritional treat made from fruit/ vegetables and pet safe chocolate/ peanut butter along with other pets too. We have now expanded to making baubles for pets this Christmas to ensure they have something special. The baubles can have the pets' names, colour/decoration of choice and is filled with yummy snacks (NO RAWHIDE); these can also be empty if owner prefers. Along with these, we're making heavenly baubles for those who have unfortunately lost their family, friends and pets; filled with feathers and name/decoration of choice. We believe these would make a great reminder of a loved and missed person/pet and make it seem like they are there for Christmas. There is no limit of what we can do, If you have any questions regarding our treats and Baubles or anything else, pop us a message and myself or Daisie will be more than happy to help ." How lovely of them, we are ever so thankful for their support and can't wait to collaborate with them in the near future (as well as team members probably buying some pet gifts!), thank you Dylan and Daisie! |
