Since it's the last day of the year, we wanted to share some 2020 stats about our rescue.
It goes without saying, this year has been a shock for us all. We're definitely not the only charity out there that has struggled this year and from the bottom of our hearts, we can't thank you all enough for the support we've received in these difficult times. Enjoy this little info sheet with some fun (and not so fun...) facts. If you'd like to give a small donation, link is in the comments! Bring on 2021! - Love from Team WAR x

Hi everyone, hope you are all well in these difficult, confusing times. We wanted to give an update on what will be happening with our adoptions from today onwards. With lockdown restrictions easing from the 2nd December, we're aiming to kick start rehoming again prior to Christmas. Our amazing tech and admin team have prepared everything ready for today. So, from today onwards until further notice... All the cats, kittens and snakes will be available for adoption via our website. We urge you to read the full description regarding each furbaby prior to applying.
We don't operate on a first come first served basis. We operate on a most suitable home for each furbaby concerned, so the more information you provide us, the better understanding we will have of your home suitability for the animal you are interested in. Hello everyone, it's been a while!
Welcome to the November WAR blog, hope you've all been keeping well.
I suppose we should start off with the elephant in the room and talk about what will be happening with WAR with the new COVID-19 restrictions/lockdown starting on Thursday 5th November 2020. Another wave and another lockdown. We survived the last one so we'll survive this one as well, although to date we've lost over £15000 in fundraisers this year so far. But as of this week, here is where our rescue stands...
We're extremely sorry to have to make this change but it is only temporary. We place staff and client safety as a top priority and in these difficult times, we cannot guarantee the safety of our team or potential adoptees due to the nature of the COVID-19 virus and the risks associated with it. We are truly sorry for this!
Hello everyone.
Hope everyone is doing well in these, still, confusing and anxious times. We wanted to give you an exciting update in regards to our rescue... As of 01/07/2020...
We're excited to announce we will be reopening home checks and adoptions for a select few of our lovely rescue animals.
Please note that we will only be accepting applications for the following cats: NinaGeorgeand Toby
Unfortunately, we're unable to accept applications for kittens at this current time, whilst we deal with the current waiting list. So please refrain from apply for the waiting list for a little while, until things have settled a little more. We will keep you all posted!
Snakes and reptiles are open for adoption as normal, but still require homechecks so do get in touch if you'd like to take on any of these beautiful creatures! Obviously, as things change in the coming weeks, we will adapt as best we can. If you have any questions, please do get in touch. We obviously have to prioritise responding to rescue and assistance requests first, but we're happy to answer any questions when we can!
Hi everybody! It's time for a monthly Team WAR update!
We've been very busy during these tricky times caring for the rescue animals in WAR (with assistance from our wonderful fosterers!), as well as still taking call-outs for animals in distress or need of rescue and hand-rearing lots and lots of kittens. It's been difficult, but everyone in the team is ploughing through at the best of our abilities, all in the name of making sure our animals are happy and healthy! Let's begin the monthly updates... Adoption Application Suspension
With immediate effect, as of 6th June 2020, we will be suspending all adoption applications until a later date.
During COVID, we received over 150 applications since the 1st May alone, that's without applications prior to that. Whilst this is amazing that so many people are interested in becoming a new potential, loving owner for our rescue animals, it has been extremely difficult to move forward on these applications due to health and safety risks. We've been unable to carry out home checks safely in the current climate, which is an essential part of ensuring the animals go to the very best suited families. We wouldn't want to put any applicants or our team at any risk, so it was a difficult decision that had to be made... |
