Cat Cargo Awareness Campaign 2020

Today, we are launching a campaign to bring awareness to an often reoccurring issue of animals going missing due to accidentally being trapped in vans and cars., especially in Summer months where cats are seeking shade and cool environments when roaming outside.

​When it comes to cats, it's well known they'll be looking for the next warm, sheltered comfortable spot to take their cat naps in. And sometimes, that just so happens to be in cars and vans.

We have created a campaign on Facebook to spread awareness on the issue and to give advice on the best steps to take if you ever come across the issue.

Please also consider reading our web information page about the campaign, which contains lots of helpful tips and precautions you can take to ensure you don't end up with an unexpected furry stowaway in your vehicle.

​Tips for dealing with cat stowaways

If you do find a cat in your van/car, you should follow these steps:
​

• It is extremely important to stay calm; the animal is likely to panic and be terrified.
  
  
• Due to the nature of deliveries and driving, it is unfortunate that the cat could actually be from anywhere you've stopped at and visited, so please do not let the animal out or escape as it may be lost.
  
  
• Calmly contain the animal so that is cannot run away; the last thing you want is the animal fleeing and getting into an accident on a busy road.
  ​
• Contact a local animal rescue or vet; they will be able to give you the correct advice or help you find the owner.
  ​Let the rescue/vet know where you found him and where you have been that day.
  ​
• If you'd like to help find the owner, consider putting up 'CAT FOUND' posters with contact details or post on social media.
