COVID-19 - Lockdown 2.0 Rescue Update

Hello everyone, it's been a while!

Welcome to the November WAR blog, hope you've all been keeping well.

I suppose we should start off with the elephant in the room and talk about what will be happening with WAR with the new COVID-19 restrictions/lockdown starting on Thursday 5th November 2020.

Another wave and another lockdown. We survived the last one so we'll survive this one as well, although to date we've lost over £15000 in fundraisers this year so far. But as of this week, here is where our rescue stands...

Rescues & Assistance
We'll continue to operate as a rescue responding to emergencies only. If you are present at these rescues, please respect and abide with social-distancing where possible for the safety of both you and our team.

Adoptions
Homechecks and rehomings will be put on hold until the 2nd of December. The only exception to this is if you've already been homechecked and approved. Please note we DO NOT do video distanced home checks.

We're extremely sorry to have to make this change but it is only temporary. We place staff and client safety as a top priority and in these difficult times, we cannot guarantee the safety of our team or potential adoptees due to the nature of the COVID-19 virus and the risks associated with it. We are truly sorry for this!

We understand this may be frustrating, and trust us we feel the same as we want nothing more than to give our rescue animals new loving homes, but we thank you for your patience and understanding, as well as continued support.

You can still continue to support our charity via donations, fundraisers and following our social media channels. We want to share as much information as possible about our animals so we will continue to help and rescue animals, as well as keep everyone aware of who is with us and what is happening within our team. Thank you for your patience!

Additionally, we wanted to give a spotlight to a recent shoutout we received in Parliament.

The Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Bill was discussed recently and our local MP gave us a shoutout. The Bill seeks to increase the maximum sentences for animal cruelty offences to five years, cementing this country’s place as a world leader in the care and protection of animals.
