COVID-19 Update (June 2020)

Hi everybody! It's time for a monthly Team WAR update!

We've been very busy during these tricky times caring for the rescue animals in WAR (with assistance from our wonderful fosterers!), as well as still taking call-outs for animals in distress or need of rescue and hand-rearing lots and lots of kittens.

It's been difficult, but everyone in the team is ploughing through at the best of our abilities, all in the name of making sure our animals are happy and healthy!

Adoption Application Suspension

With immediate effect, as of 6th June 2020, we will be suspending all adoption applications until a later date.

During COVID, we received over 150 applications since the 1st May alone, that's without applications prior to that. Whilst this is amazing that so many people are interested in becoming a new potential, loving owner for our rescue animals, it has been extremely difficult to move forward on these applications due to health and safety risks.

​We've been unable to carry out home checks safely in the current climate, which is an essential part of ensuring the animals go to the very best suited families. We wouldn't want to put any applicants or our team at any risk, so it was a difficult decision that had to be made...

So with all these applications building up, we're essentially dealing with quite a hefty backlog of applications at the moment.

We're aiming to get a system up and running so we can start home-checking and rehoming as soon as possible. We will process and attempt to reply to every application received so far, however we hope for some understanding as we are a very small team of volunteers and we must put urgent calls for rescue first.

We will not however be able to process any new applications for the time being.

​We hope you understand. We've already had lots of offers of help and assistance, we appreciate... it we really do. However, we are managing fine admin wise but it's just the backlog that we need to get through takes a lot of time but we'll get there! We thank you all for the offers.

Website Updates

With the help and feedback of our lovely team and fosterers, we are currently working on redesigning some of our webpages to make them a little easier to use and to make sure everyone is getting all the information they need for adoptions or help requests.

We've come a long way since our old website and there has been so many changes since then... however, there is always room for more changes and improvements.

Or you can leave a comment down below this blog! We can only grow and get better with feedback so we're all ears to hear what would make your experience with us more streamline and informative.

Whilst we're here...

We wanted to give a big shout out to our Head of Admin, Lisa, as it was her birthday this week. Thank you for everything you do Lisa, we couldn't do it without you and all of our rescue animals appreciate your efforts too.
